Overview

STEP ONE

Set-up & Prep

We recommend wearing a button-up shirt when colouring (makes everything a whole lot easier at the end).

Put on your gloves and cape, then starting with dry combed hair part it down the middle into two sections.

STEP TWO

Mix your colours

Using kitchen scales, mix together for root colour (darker shade);

  • 40g of colour
  • 30g of developer
  • 30g of water

(If you need stronger grey coverage, mix 50g of colour and 50g developer. This is the grey coverage mix that gives up to 90% grey coverage).

For ends colour (lighter shade);

  • 50g colour
  • 75g developer
STEP THREE

First colour (darker shade)

1. Start with dry, combed hair.

2. Starting 2cm back from the hairline, use your fingers to draw a cap shape until your fingers meet at the crown.

3. Pull the top section up and tie it away with a hair tie.

4. With a small scoop of the lighter colour on your brush, start to paint the colour directly onto where the old highlights start.

5. Continue to paint all the way down the strands of hair.

6. With both hands, milk the sections from where the lighter colour was painted on to ensure it spreads evenly.

7. Repeat the above steps on the rest of the hair from the underneath section.

8. Wash your gloves under water, or use a paper towel to remove excess colour.

STEP FOUR

Second colour

1. Tie back that colour section of hair and let down your hair that was tied away with a hair tie.

2. With a small scoop of the darker colour of your brush, paint from your where your highlights start and stop at the middle of your hair.

3. Stop painting at the mid-lengths of your hair. With both hands, milk the section where the colour is to ensure it spreads evenly.

4. Pick up a couple random pieces of hair throughout the top section. Paint the darker colour all the way to the ends.

5. Milk the section where the colour is to ensure it spreads evenly.

6. Again, wash your gloves under water, or use a paper towel to remove excess colour.

7. Take a small scoop of the lighter colour on your brush and paint it on your mid-lengths to ends.

8. With both hands, milk the sections from where the lighter colour was painted on to ensure it spreads evenly

9. Repeat the above steps on the rest of the hair in the top section (leave out the random pieces you coloured with the darker colour).

10. Set your timer for 30 minutes or per your personalised instructions.

Wash your colour out...

How long does the colour last?

MIIROKO hair colour lasts 4-6 weeks depending on your hair type. If you find your hair fades quickly we recommend setting the colour subscription to every 4 weeks so that you are covered.

Is it a permanent hair colour?
Our colours are technically a demi-permanent, which means they are in-between a semi-permanent and permanent colour. It takes to the hair like a permanent and will start fading at the 4-6 week mark like a semi-permanent.
